January FOCUS Forum: A Community Discussion of 2025 Forums

January 3, 2025

FOCUS Forums are a series of engaging public discussions featuring expert panelists who discuss a range of topics that impact Central New York residents, including education, environment, local government, business, health, public service, and more. Each forum consists of insightful presentations, followed by a moderated Q&A session that encourages community participation. We aim to create an inclusive space for residents to learn and contribute to the issues that matter most in our community.

This Survey Has Closed. Thank You To All Who Participated

Thank you to everyone who attended the live forum, submitted a survey response, and watched the recording. The FOCUS Forum Committee will meet to review the results from the live forum and survey responses in order to plan the upcoming Forums for 2025.

When: Friday, January 24, 12:05 pm to 1:00 pm

Registration & Location: This forum was held via Zoom. Registration was free and open to everyone.

Topic: FOCUS collected the major recurring topics of interest in our community by reviewing insights from various local listening sessions and reports, including the CNY Community Foundation’s Listening Sessions, PEACE, Inc.’s Community Needs Assessment, the Community Engagement Committee’s Community Priorities Document, and the Syracuse Community Listening Session organized by New York Focus. By analyzing their insights, FOCUS collected the major recurring topics that resonate in our community. These priority areas include:

  • Economic and Workforce Development
  • Housing Stability and Development
  • Community Engagement and Transparency
  • Education and Career Readiness
  • Health and Family Support

Our next step was to narrow our focus to more specific topics within these broad areas. To ensure that we align with the interests and needs of local residents, we looked to the community for input on which specific subjects they would like to explore further in upcoming FOCUS Forums.

We invited everyone in the community to participate in our survey. The survey allowed participants to share their interests and suggest panelists and organizations they would like to see at our 2025 Forums. We encouraged registration for our live forum, where we discussed the survey results. Community input is essential in shaping the topics and conversations that are important to our residents!

Thank you to everyone who attended the live forum, submitted a survey response, and watched the recording. The FOCUS Forum Committee will meet to review the results from the live forum and survey responses in order to plan the upcoming Forums for 2025.
