MATT MILLEA, Deputy County Executive for Physical Services; DAVID COBURN, Director, Onondaga County Office of Environment and LEE KLOSOWSKI, Onondaga County Director of Energy and Sustainability, presented Onondaga County’s Climate Action Plan.
Since her election in 2007, Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney has made the study, development and implementation of greenhouse gas reduction measures an important priority for her administration. Early in her tenure, County Executive Mahoney created the position of Director of Energy and Sustainability and initiated the formation of the County’s Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee Chaired by David Coburn. The County Executive charged the Committee and the County’s first Director of Energy and Sustainability, Lee Klosowski to develop and advance a comprehensive Climate Action Plan for county operations, which includes a baseline inventory of the County’s carbon emissions, a listing of those emissions by source and recommendations for reducing the County’s carbon footprint through energy efficiency improvements and building retrofits. The County issued its formal Climate Action Plan in April of this year.
We had a great presentation and discussion but if you missed it, you can catch the Climate Action Plan Powerpoint presentation.
